Corn gluten feed is a by-product of the wet milling process, which involves separating the corn kernel into its various components—starch, oil, protein, and bran. The corn is first soaked in sulfurous acid, creating a steep liquor rich in protein, minerals, vitamins, and energy sources. The starch and oil are extracted, and the remaining fiber or bran is combined with the steep liquor to produce wet corn gluten feed. When dried to approximately 90% dry matter, it becomes dry corn gluten feed.
